“Give us voice; we who blot the margins, the fallen and forgotten, the minimised and maligned.“

Time & Again Theatre Company are inviting you to step into the shadows of history and help bring a brand-new show to life.
On 28th June, at Manchester’s 53Two, we’ll be offering an exclusive first look at our latest production, VILE. We’re previewing the first act of what will become a full-length touring production in 2026, and we want you to be part of shaping its journey. Join us, experience the story, and share your thoughts as we develop this bold and irreverent new piece of theatre. You can get your tickets here!
What is VILE?
Welcome to the court of Henry VIII. The parties are bigger, the cockfights are wilder and there’s more scandal than you can shake a jousting lance at. Frankly, it’s a bloody nightmare.
Enter Jane Parker. Minor noble, major worrier. The flash, young brother of Anne Boleyn is being thrust upon her, but Jane would rather retreat to the countryside away from the crowds, pestilence and power-hungry politics of courtly life.
Newly entangled with the Boleyns, Jane begins to battle intrusive thoughts that warn of constant danger. It’s difficult not to lose your head when you’re fighting your own mind.
Will Jane crumble in a world of backstabbing and betrayal? Or will she play the game and do whatever it takes to survive?
VILE is a rude and radical re-evaluation of Anne Boleyn’s infamous sister-in-law, celebrating queer and disabled identities in an era where neither were recognised. When marginalised narratives are so often twisted and erased, the question is — does history deserve to be rewritten?
VILE’s preview at 53Two

This preview performance marks the beginning of VILE. We’re proud to be developing the show in partnership with Cast, the Lowry, and OCD UK, supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Following on from our multi-award winning show EARWIG, which took Edinburgh Fringe by storm in 2022, VILE continues our commitment to creative integrated access and platforming untold stories with heart, humour, and defiance.
Directed by Ellie Rose, written by Laura Crow, and produced by Courtenay Johnson, this preview is your chance to catch the beginning of something special. So, come be part of the chaos, the comedy, and the courtly intrigue. Watch the story begin, then help us decide where it goes next.
Will you join us in rewriting Jane Boleyn’s narrative?
